Vikings invade the Gymnasium am Oelberg

On Monday, 17th February 2014 two performances of the ‚Viking Musical‘ were given by form 7e at the Gymnasium am Oelberg.

The first performance took place in the morning. Most of the audience were students, but also important persons like the principal Mrs. Friedrich and a teacher, Mrs. Michel, were there. They thought it was amazing. One of the students said that it was just like a professional musical.

Although one has to say that the younger students probably didn't understand the whole text since the Musical was performed in English. If they had understood everything, they would have laughed more, because the story is very interesting, funny and exciting.

The second performance was performed in front of the teachers, parents and relatives in the evening. The audience understood the story well and laughed a lot, therefore it was our best performance.

The story is about a viking village, which is in great danger and needs a new chief. Astrid, the young daughter oft the village's chief, wants to become the new leader but the elders are against it. So she has to prove that also a girl can be a real chief. Throughout the whole play, the band and the technicians supported the actors with their live music and a perfectly timed lights.

In the end all actors, the band and the technicians got a rose from Mrs. Hanebut, who directed the mucical. Moreover Mrs. Hanebut got a bunch of flowers from the students of form 7e, because of her brilliant work throughout the rehearsals.

All in all, form 7e had a lot of fun rehearsing the Viking musical in their English lessons, at extra rehearsals in the afternoon and at the weekend. The performances were the great result of their hard work.
